Want to Update Your Kitchen, but You're Trying To Decide How to Best Spend Your Dollars?      We Can Help!

When considering an update to your kitchen you basically have three choices: (1) Replace, (2) Reface, or (3) Refinish.

So, how do you know which option is right for you?

- Replace
This option is by far the most expensive. It requires major demolition and major bucks to accomplish.
- Reface
   - While more affordable than replacing, refacing cabinets is still more than twice as expensive as refinishing! Refacing is accomplished by putting veneer strips over your frames and then replacing your doors and drawers. The replacements may or may not be real wood. They might also be veneer over a composite material.
   - This means your real wood is now hidden behind glued on veneer!
   - It's probably also true that your solid wood doors (which have now been thrown out) have now been replaced with a much lower quality product.
   - Will your hardware eventually strip out of a lesser quality door? Professional cabinet makers tell us this can be a problem.
   - Refacers love to say painted cabinets will chip, but that's only true if you don't hire a professional. Professionally refinished cabinets have multiple layers of products all designed to protect your wood and your finish. At Focal Point Studios we use products specifically designed for cabinetry and chipping just isn't a problem.

   - In this environmentally conscious day and age why throw out perfectly good wood when all that's probably wrong is you're tired of the look.

- Refinish - The Smart Way To Get a Beautiful New Kitchen.

For the money you'll save by refinishing instead of refacing you'll be able to add new granite countertops as well! (See our Countertops tab for more information.)

- Refinishing is accomplished by keeping your existing cabinetry. We update the look through paints, stains and glazes.  (See our Kitchens/Baths tab for makeover examples.) We can give you a custom, one-of-a-kind look tailored to your kitchen colors with one of our beautiful finishes. When we've finished our customers frequently tell us it feels like they've gotten brand new cabinets!  Don't see what you want? We can duplicate pictures from magazines. If you can find it, we can probably do it!

Keep your existing cabinets, avoid throwing out that perfectly good wood, save a ton of money, AND get a custom look. What more could you ask for?

  - We prep your wood, including a light sanding to remove loose material and old varnish, and then get to work creating your new finish.

  - Our products are made for cabinets. Each finish includes seven to ten layers of primers, paints, glazes, and sealers. Each job ends with two coats of high end non-yellowing polyurethane to protect your new finish and give you years of lasting beauty.
