Faux finishing is the art of layering product to create a specific look. It cannot be accomplished quickly as each layer must be applied by hand and typically must dry before the next layer can be applied. Our cabinet finishes are beautiful and not easy to duplicate because they contain seven to nine layers of hand applied paints, custom blended glazes and stains, and high quality, non-yellowing sealers. No two kitchens will ever be exactly alike, which is the mark of hand crafted, custom finishes. Amazingly affordable, each kitchen is truly a unique work of art.

What tools are used and is spraying better than brushing/rolling?
The true artisan uses whatever tools the finish requires. We are not tied to any one piece of equipment. The finish may require a sprayer, a brush, roller, trowel, sponges, or any of a multitude of other items. When painters tell you "it's better to spray" it's because they have no skill or training in the craft of faux finishing. In fact, a renowned artist and faux finish instructor once commented the "subtle strie of a brushed and rolled finished is the sign of class hand work".

The evolution of "cabinet refinishing"
Gone are the days when "refinishing cabinets" meant stripping varnish with caustic, smelly chemicals, to be followed by restaining with the same or darker color. Your choice was either lacquer, durable but very "plastic" looking and smelled terrible, or oil, messy and limited in choices. Today's beautiful finishes are typically water based, are extremely durable if applied correctly, and when created by a professional the choices are unlimited. We offer a large variety of styles, an unlimited choice of colors, and have numerous samples which can be viewed in your own home.
